Rev. Don J. Woods, of Franklin, passed away at Landmark Hospital in Columbia on November 13, 2016.  He was 79 years old.

Don was born in St. Louis, MO on December 7, 1936 a son of the late Lewis and Martha Ennis Woods.  He married Millie Elledge on July 3, 1962 in Collinsville, IL.  They celebrated 54 years of marriage.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1961-62.

Rev. Woods was ordained in 1973 and received his Doctorate of Theology in the early 1990’s. During his years of ministry Don has served in many churches, area churches that Don served as pastor included First Baptist Church and Sulphur Springs Baptist Church both in New Franklin and Renick Community Church in Renick, MO.  Following retirement, Rev. Woods had enjoyed serving as associate pastor at the Friendship Foursquare Church in New Franklin. Don was much loved by his family and friends, leading many to Christ through his ministry and example.

Don loved his family and serving others.  He enjoyed fishing and construction projects.

Rev. Woods is survived by his wife, Millie of Franklin; a son, Jeffrey Woods and wife, Samantha of Franklin; two daughters, Laura Willer of Moberly and Julie Turpin and husband, Robert of Huntsville; eight grandchildren, Amanda (Matthew) Colvin, Kirsten (Phillip) Woods, Jacob Willer, Kris Woods, Allison Willer, Kourtney Woods, Abby Trupin, Gabby Turpin and two great-grandchildren, Blake Woods and Mikel Colvin.  Also surviving are nieces, nephews and a host of friends and other family members.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Lola Long, Anna Harkett and Martha Nagle.

Services honoring Don’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 26, at the Friendship Foursquare Church in New Franklin.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
