Diana Kay Jacquelyn (Smith) Elsey, age 53, of Boonville, passed away at her home on October 29, 2016.

She was born August 28, 1963 in Columbia, Missouri.  Diana married Samuel Lee Elsey July 26, 1986 at the Caldwell Street Baptist Church in Brookfield, Missouri.  He survives at their home.

Mrs. Elsey attended Northeast Missouri State University, Hannibal LaGrange College, University of Missouri-Columbia and Columbia College.  In college she participated in the Army ROTC program.  She was a member of Bible Baptist Church in New Franklin where she faithfully served in the children’s ministry and had assisted with church bus ministries since she became a Christian at an early age due to riding a church bus to church as a child.  Diana had also assisted with Grace and Glory School in New Franklin in the lunch department and providing treats for children on the bus route.  She also promoted Accelerated Christian Education and smart faith.

Diana’s other favorite activities included her membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution, she enjoyed history participating in archaeological digs in Mexico, studying political science – she was a southern boll weevil democrat and voted against her party when needed.  She also enjoyed southern cooking.  Her employment included working at Wal-Mart, Caterpillar and Nordyne in Boonville.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Samuel Lee Elsey and four children, who she raised to serve God, Samuel Allen Elsey, Clarence Roy Elsey, Patrick Eugene Elsey and Anastasia Marie Elsey.

Diana was preceded in death by her father, Alfonso Harper; mother, Ernestine Ambrose; step-father, Clarence Ambrose and twin sister at the age of nine years.
