William "Bill" Darrell Sheets

Willliam Darrell Sheets, 78, passed away at his home on July 29, 2024.  Three days before his 79th birthday.

He was a lifelong Columbia native, born at Boone County Hospital on August 1st, 1945 to Joseph and Gertude Sheets.  He graduated from David H. Hickman High School in 1963.

Bill, as he was affectionately known, married the love of his life Colleen Ann on September 3rd, 1966.

He was a local business owner of Jim’s Bike and Key Shop since February 1992.  Prior to ownership of the Key Shop, Bill went to computer school in Kansas City in 1968 and began a career as a Computer Programmer at the University of Missouri in Columbia.  He then worked at as a Computer Programmer at Columbia Insurance Group.

Bill was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Missouri Tigers sports teams, donating to the Tiger Scholarship Fund.  Bill was a lifelong member of Grandview Baptist Church and was a deacon for many years.  Bill enjoyed going to the Lake of the Ozarks, taking everyone for rides on his boat and coaching baseball during the summer.  He was always happy to have everyone over for a family reunion or get together and enjoy time with them.

Bill is survived by his sisters Brenda (Bill) McAllister, Debbie (Curt) Russell and brother David (Mary) Sheets.  His children Cynthia (Jerry) Hyde, Darron (Jill) Sheets as well as grandchildren Miriam and Joshua Hyde and Heather Sheets as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his wife Colleen, his parents, sisters Faye Lewis and Connie Barnd and brother Stanley Sheets.

Visitation will be held at Grandview Baptist Church, 8300 N. Route Z, Centralia MO 65240 at 1:00PM, Monday August 5th, 2024 with Services at 3:00PM.

Memorials for Bill should be made to Grandview Baptist Church.
