Rose Jean Bennett

Rose Jean Bennett, 86, of Columbia, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at The Neighborhoods. 

Rose was born on July 1, 1937, in Boone County, the daughter of Shelby Joe Salmon and Rosa Meyer. She married Kenneth Gay Bennett, and he preceded her in death in 2010. 

Rose enjoyed spending time running the roads with her sisters and loved every store or antique mall they stopped at to shop. She enjoyed playing cards with her family, but especially loved playing pitch. 

She will be sadly missed and forever remembered by two sons, Kenneth Michael “Mike” Bennett and wife Kimberly Joy of Columbia and Kevin Scott Bennett and wife Dana Elaine of Fulton; one granddaughter, Jessica Hyler of Columbia; two great grandchildren, Kamoni Hyler and Claudie Hyler, both of Columbia; one sister, Nina K. Neckerman and husband David of Pilot Grove. 

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Keith Dale Bennett; 13 siblings. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel with a visitation being held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the services, Rose will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery.
