Roger Niebruegge Obituary

Roger William Niebruegge, 69, a resident of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at The Neighborhoods.

Roger was born on May 10, 1953, in Boonville, Mo, the son of Herbert J. Niebruegge and Betty J. Rogers Niebruegge.

Roger was a 1971 graduate of Hickman High School and following high school he served his country proudly in the United States Navy from 1973 until 1977. He worked for the VA for 15 years and for the USGS for 15 years as well. He was 1 month shy of celebrating 25 years of sobriety, and for over 20 years he has been at the Oxford House where he befriended and mentored many young men. Growing up, Roger played baseball in the Kiwanis Club Little Dixie baseball, as well as a member of the Boy Scouts, camping at Camp Philmont. In his free time Roger enjoyed camping with his friends, Trent, Jerry, Darrel, Christian and Bruce as well as working on cars. He had a love for old cars especially Mustangs and Firebirds, especially his Mustang GT, which was his baby. He enjoyed gardening, especially growing tomatoes. He spen hours creating a watering system out of rain barrels with an automated drip.

Roger is survived by his mother, Betty J. Niebruegge of New Franklin; one sister, Nancy J. Hayes and husband Mike of Harrisburg; one nephew, Scott Robinson of Aiken, SC.

Roger was preceded in death by his father.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2022, at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel with the family receiving friends and family from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
