Obituary

Robin (Robbie) Elaine Coleman, 58, Columbia, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at home surrounded by her son and loving family.

 A Celebration will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel with a Celebration of Robin’s life 11:00 a.m.

Robin was born May 26, 1965, in Columbia to the late Hetty Ann Coleman and Lewis “Jr” Kinney. Robin was number 4 of the lovely “Coleman sister’s”. She graduated from Hickman High School in 1984, after graduating she attended Sam Brown Cosmetology school in Columbia Mo. She loved trying out the latest hairstyles on her sisters and friends. On May 8th 1990, Robin welcomed her One and only Son Jarrell Coleman-Miller (St.Louis,MO), This was a new yet loving role Robin took on, with the help of her mother and sister’s.

Robin was the life of the party; she was always the ride or die friend and was always there when her sisters or her friends needed her. You would always see Robin out and about in the town with her baby sister Evelyn or her two best friends LaujWana or Vickie. Robin loved the kids, and the kids loved her! Kids gravitated towards her, and she embraced every one of them like they were hers.

She moved to Seattle, WA in 1995 where she spent 20 years of her life. There she met friends that became family. Robin returned to Columbia in 2013.  She was employed with the VA hospital as an administrative assistant in various roles. Here she learned several skills and met great friends that she cherished.

In 2015 Robin met Fiancé Omar Truss (Murfreesboro, TN) and they began their journey together, she was then blessed with bonus daughter Taylor Truss (Columbia, MO), and grandchildren Hailey and Michael. They enjoyed many traveling and business ventures.

Through life’s trials, Robin gained a new and cherished relationship with God. Robin, strong in faith, always believed she was a true walking testimony. She was a long-time member of St. Paul AME Church.

Robin is survived by her son Jarrell Coleman. Her sisters Christina Coleman, Ann Coleman, Betty Wilson, Evelyn Coleman, Kecia Kinney, Donna Kinney-Walker, Alissa Kinney-Walker, and Regina Kinney-Wright. Brothers Lewis Kenny Jr, Kelton Kinney, Kirklin Kinney and Rodney Woods. A host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother Hetty Ann Coleman, father Lewis “Junior” Kinney, sisters Sonja Kinney-Barns, Roma Kinney-Harris and her brothers Ernest Coleman and Maurice Kinney.
