Peggy George Obituary

Peggy Rae George, 88, of Columbia went to be with her heavenly Father on Monday, March 8, 2021.

Peggy was born November 5, 1932, to Richard Neal and Nona Theresa Fonda Ford in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.  She married the love her life, Bill George on June 7, 1952 in Kirkwood, Missouri. Peggy graduated from the University of Missouri with a PhD in Education and taught school at the University of Missouri Lab School.  After teaching she worked for the University organizing conferences.  Peggy and Bill made their home in Columbia in 1952 where they lived until Bill’s death on December 7, 2017. She loved RVing with Bill and was an active member of Christian Chapel Church (C2 Church).

Survivors include her children, William Joseph George, Jr. (Maree) of Hudson, WI, Julie Ruth Alsberge (Steve) of Columbia, Jon David George (Kim) of Austin, Texas; son-in-law, Mike Willhite (Debbie) of Yorkville, IL; twelve grandchildren, David Willhite (Demelza), Caree Amtsberg, Stephen Willhite (Amber), Justin Willhite (Amy), William George (Jenny), Joshua George (Taylor), Zachary George, Sadie Markey (Michael), Jake Alongi, Amanda Alsberge, Nathan George, Brayden George and fourteen great grandchildren, Brantley Willhite, Emilee Amtsberg, Maycee Amtsberg, Chelsee Amtsberg, Scott Willhite, Ahna George, Maddilyn George, Carson Alsberge, Lily George, Amelia George, Hallie Willhite, Maggie Willhite, Abigail Willhite and Mackenzie Willhite.                        

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Janice T. Willhite on September 30, 2017 and three siblings.

Funeral services will be held at C2 Church at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 13, 2021.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service.   Entombment will follow the service at Memorial Park Cemetery.
