1948 – 2023

Peggy Allen Gentry, age 75, of Franklin, Missouri passed away on her own terms at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia on August 18, 2023.

Peggy was born in Glasgow, Missouri on April 16, 1948, a daughter of Robert and Gertie Brand Heying.  She married Ronald Gentry on May 25, 1994, at the Friendship Foursquare Church in New Franklin.   Peggy was employed with the University of Missouri for thirty-four years in the Pathology Laboratory and also helping administer the Gift of Body Program.

Peggy was a very direct person always making sure that you knew her opinion on the subject at hand.  She also had an opposite side included love for her husband, Ron and caring for their home, her talents as a seamstress and her love of animals.  Peggy was a graduate of the last graduating class of Armstrong High School where she was a good student and won several awards for her tying skills.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Ronald Dean Gentry; grandchildren, Ryan Holem, Alex Holem and Kayle Rice and family friends, Larry and Lan Tu Holem.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Heying, Jr.

Peggy requested that no services be held and that memorial contributions in her honor be made to Columbia Second Chance Animal Shelter.
