Patricia "Patty" M. (Hanny) Burkholder

Patricia M. “Patty” Burkholder, 66, of Hallsville, MO passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023, peacefully surrounded by her family and friends in Columbia, MO.

Patty was born on June 1, 1956, in St. Louis the daughter of William Hanny and Maureen Hanny (Howard). Pat met the love of her life and married Joseph “Joe” S. Burkholder on February 14, 1996.

Patty first moved to Columbia with her family in 1972. She lived and worked in the Columbia area for over 50 years. In her younger years she was a talented softball player and dart thrower, receiving many awards for both.

Patty loved her family, including a love for her pets.  She cherished time spent with them at family dinners and game nights. Patty and Joe had a love for traveling and traveled together to special places such as Ireland and several U.S. National Parks. Patty loved the sunshine and being out in it tending to her flower garden. Patty developed many long-lasting friendships and was known for her no-nonsense wit and humor, and her independent spirit. She was generous and thoughtful in all that she did.

She will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her husband of 27 years, Joseph Burkholder of Hallsville; four children, Stephanie (Kevin) Leibi (Marshall) of California, Mo., Bryan Murphy, Amanda (Justin) Skultka (Burkholder) and Amy Weathers (Burkholder), all of Columbia; three grandchildren, Zackary Brice, Jackson Weathers, and Owen Weathers; four siblings, Michael (Kelly) Hanny, Christine “Chris” Lott, James “Jim” (Nena) Hanny and Daniel “Danny” Hanny; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Patty was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel, Monday March 27, 4:00 to 6:00 pm. with a celebration of life to follow.
