Oliver Beaman Obituary

Oliver Jackson “Doc” Beaman, 91, of New Franklin, entered Heaven on February 2, 2025, at the Harry S. Truman Hospital in Columbia.

Doc was born in New Franklin on September 16, 1933, a son of Oliver Hugh and Eunice Pharris Beaman.  He married Donna Ethelene Christner over 70 years ago on August 21, 1955, at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.

Prior to retirement, Doc was employed as a printing press operator with Mike Angelo Printing and Mid-Missouri Printing in Boonville and he also farmed for several years. Doc was a graduate of New Franklin High School where he excelled in track, winning five state medals and was also a talented basketball player.  He served his nation in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and during which he also played semi-pro basketball.

Doc was a member of Bible Baptist Church and had served as a deacon for a total of 61 years beginning at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church and continuing at Bible Baptist Church. Doc and Donna were longtime youth leaders at both churches.  Doc also coached and officiated basketball games at Grace and Glory School and helped with their track team.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his sidekick, Caleb.

Doc was loved and cherished by his children, Rick (Leslie) Beaman, Linette Beaman and Kevin (Kellie) Beaman; his grandchildren, Andrew, Adam (Lindy) Beaman, Justin (Dakota) Owens, Lauren (Jordan) Powell and Caleb Beaman; great-grandchildren, Grayson, Hudson, Stetson and Harper Owens, Quinn, Blair and Kamryn Beaman and Natalie and Landon Powell and nieces, Devonna Adams and Vicki Corkran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna and his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ted and Opal Christner and by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wayne and Dorothy Bryson.
