Michael Ray Oliver Obituary
Michael Ray Oliver gained his wings at the young age of 63 years on April 19, 2026, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Michael Oliver, better known as “Mike”, was born in Amarillo, Texas on July 05, 1962, to Virginia Ella “Tooter” Vance (Angel) and Willis Isaac Oliver. Shortly, thereafter he relocated to Wellsville, Missouri and was raised by his maternal grandparents Paul and Teola Angel.
Mike was involved with basketball in high school and continued to love the sport throughout his life. He graduated from Wellsville High school in the class of 1980, and shortly thereafter worked at the water treatment plant in Wellsville, Missouri. Later, he went to work at the Fulton State Hospital in Fulton, Missouri where he retired from. Mike loved to play card games, especially Phase 10, Rummy and Spades. He was a card shark at heart and family members were often left scratching their heads after playing cards with him. He loved playing Monopoly and would often crush his opponents with a big smile on his face. Mike was a huge Dallas Cowboy fan and would often get ribbed about his Dallas Cowboy hat. Sadly, Mike’s health deteriorated over the years due to his severe diabetes. Due to many health ailments over the last 10 years, Mike’s health took a steady decline, which in turn caused his demise.
Mike is survived by his wife Kimberly (Morgan) Oliver of Columbia, Missouri, his son Zackery Oliver of Missouri, three daughters, Jessica Groce, Cheyenne Thompson (Dylan Thompson) and Alysha
Brodersen (Jose Morales) of Columbia, Missouri. He also is survived by six grandchildren, Mariah, Kingston, Felicity, Jemma, Damion and Keifer all of Columbia, Missouri. He is also survived by his siblings Paula Hoover and Spencer Vance of Fulton, Missouri and siblings that reside in Illinois which include Stanley, Debbie and Steve.
Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of his family. He is preceded in death by his Mother Virginia “Tooter” Vance and Willis Oliver. His maternal grandparents Paul and Teola Angel and a niece Brittany Delozier.
Mike was cremated and did not wish to have a funeral service. We will have a celebration of life for Mike in the future, details will be posted on Facebook. If anyone wishes to make any contributions to any of the Diabetes and Heart organizations would be greatly appreciated.
