Mary H. (Hardy) Benton

Mary H. Benton, 98, passed away on October 18, 2023.

Mary was born December 9, 1924, in Red Oak, North Carolina to the late William Robert and Georgiana (Gardner) Hardy. On June 22, 1946, she married David W. Benton, who preceded her in death in February 1994.  She enjoyed volunteering to be a service to people.  She volunteered for over 30 years at the VA Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina before moving to Columbia, Missouri where she volunteered at the VA Hospital here as well as the University of Missouri Medical Center.  She was a member of Compass Evangelical Free Church.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren,  

Mary is survived by her sons, Steve (Bee) and Stan (Mary Beth); five grandchildren, Shannon, Stacia, Shawn, Jennifer, and Melissa; fourteen great grandchildren, Bobby, Cesar, Adriana, Jose, Mika, William, Kristian, Tyler, Ryan, Rachael, Korben, Keaton, Khagan, Zoey; one great-great granddaughter, Kailani and her nephew, Terry Brady.

She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Benton.

Mary’s visitation is scheduled for Sunday, October 22, 2023, from 3:00-5:00 PM at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel The funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, October 23, 2023, at Compass Evangelical Free Church.  The burial will follow the service at Huntsville Cemetery, Huntsville, Missouri.
