Lola Sisler Obituary

Lola Mae (Spellman) Sisler, a resident of Columbia, MO, died on May 21, 2020 surrounded by family following hospice care at her residence. She was 92.  A memorial service and inurnment will be scheduled in Salina, KS at a future date.

Mrs. Sisler was born in Saline County, KS to Raymond and Mildred (Rothrock) Spellman, and grew up on a farm, of which she had many wonderful memories. After graduating from Kipp High School she completed studies at Brown-Mackie Business College in Salina, KS.  She married high school sweetheart, Wayne, on August 29, 1948 and lived in Salina, where they started a family.  With Wayne’s job as an IH salesman, the family moved frequently and added two daughters along the way.  Wayne’s job took them to Concordia, KS in 1967, where Lola worked as a bank teller, and finally to Trenton, MO in 1973 at Trenton Truck and Tractor, where she worked part-time as a bookkeeper for the family business in addition to raising a family and being a homemaker.  Lola was a faithful member of Hodge Presbyterian Church in Trenton and especially enjoyed volunteering with the after-school children’s program there.  In 2016 she moved to Maryville, MO, then in 2018 moved to Columbia, MO.  She enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, baking, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Sisler is survived by five children; Steven Sisler (Lori) of Pearce, AZ, Gary Sisler (Paula) of Eaton, CO and Bruce Sisler (Judy) of Columbia, MO; Judy Martin (Kevin) of Maryville, MO and Jana of St. Louis; 11 adored grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and her dear sister, Freda Rees, of Salina, KS. She was preceded in death by Wayne, her husband of 56 years; her parents; four brothers: Albert “Lee”, Alvin, David, and Robert Spellman.

Memorials may be made to Hodge Presbyterian Church, 315. W. Crowder Rd., Trenton, MO 64683.
