James “Roy” Eichelberger passed away April 21, 2026, at the age of 96. He was born on March 10, 1930, to the late, James W. and Ida Kathleen (Cannon) Eichelberger in Columbia. Roy is now at home with his heavenly Father and his Savior Jesus Christ. He has also been reunited with his beloved wife, Jeannine.
Roy graduated from Hickman High School in 1949 and attended the University of Missouri – Kansas City. He was a Veteran of the Army National Guard 128th Field Artillery Battalion. Roy married Jeannine Dothage on Aug. 5, 1950. Together they had three children: Rob Eichelberger, married to Debbie, of Columbia; Rhonda Granrath, married to Torry, of Bartlett, Ill.; Sylvia Patton, married to John of Forest Green.
Roy loved the Lord and he and Jeannine were diligent in seeing that their children were raised in church and the importance of giving their lives to the Lord. Roy had six grandchildren: Taylor Wilson, husband Aaron, of Austin, Texas; Ashley Marquez, husband Matt, of Wayne, Ill; Natalie Wuest, husband Tim, of Columbia; Robyn Connell, husband Dillon, of Hallsville; Patrick Maher, wife Heidi, of Columbia; Zach Maher, wife Amanda, of Ozark. Roy also had 14 great grandchildren, and a great great granddaughter.
Roy’s career consisted mostly of working for Atkins in the Maintenance Janitorial department where he retired as President over that department.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Monday, April 27 at Parkade Baptist Church with a Gathering of family and friends from 4-6 p.m., on Sunday, April 26 at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice to Parkade Baptist Church, 2102 N. Garth Ave., Columbia, MO 65202.
