James "Jimmy" Elkin Obituary

James Forrest “Jimmy” Elkin, 58, of Hallsville, went to be with The Lord Jesus Christ on July 26th, 2024.  He was born on February 28, 1966 in Columbia, MO, the son of Phil Elkin and Sarah (Heller) Daly.

Everyone who knew Jimmy was aware of his sense of humor.  His hilarious one-liners were always in abundance.  He was always in contact with friends and family, mostly by cell phone, checking in to see how everyone was doing. Always offering a helping hand if needed. Jimmy’s passion and love for dogs was immeasurable.  The love of Jimmy’s life was his faithful and loving dog, “Sweetie”.  Jimmy also loved Ford pickups.  He had hundreds of Ford Truck magazines that he would enthusiastically ask you to “check this one out!”.  Jimmy had a very fond place in his heart for his nieces and nephews. He was always checking in on how they were doing, asking about their sports teams and would buy them a new baseball glove, fishing pole, etc. and knew every birthday. He really loved sharing the same birthday as Hadlie.  He always wanted school pictures to proudly put on his refrigerator.  Jimmy saved every newspaper article that referenced family.  He loved his family and friends and was very proud of them.  The walls of his house are a testament of that love.  The most important part of Jimmy’s life was his belief in Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior.  Jimmy rarely offered but was never shy about professing his belief in Christ when asked.  He was a little rough around the edges, but truly had a heart of gold.

Jimmy worked in the food service industry for years at the Old Ramada Inn.  He worked many years for his father and brother at Elkin Roofing Company.  He also did some landscaping work.  Jimmy attended Hallsville High School.

Jimmy is survived by  sisters Nancy Bayne, Toano, VA; Staci Adams (Jay), Indianapolis, IN; Ashley Elkin, Hallsville, MO; brothers Skip Elkin (Lucy) Centralia, MO; Jed Elkin, Hallsville, MO; aunts Elaine George (Ray) Hallsville, MO; Nena Kallenbach (John), Rocky Mount, MO; Kena Elkin, Hallsville, MO; Debbie Kelley (the Late Mike Kelley), Columbia, MO; Caroline Heller; uncle Phillip Heller (Charlene), Columbia, MO; nieces Kathryn (Elkin) Ward and Alex (Elkin) Robertson, Hunter Bayne, Courtney Brandvik, Nicholas Rich, Nick Beckham, Paul Dean Beckham and Dylan Beckham and Joseph Elkin.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents Phil Elkin and Sarah (Heller) Daly and grandparents Bud and Mildred Elkin and Jim and Victoria Heller.

A private service will be held Mt. Zion Church in Hallsville where he will be laid to rest in Mt. Zion Church cemetery.
