Hershel “Bo” Bell
1927 – 2020
Hershel Fred “Bo” Bell, 92, of Fayette passed away unexpectedly on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2020 with his work gloves and work boots on while working at his home.
Bo was born in Holcomb, Missouri on November 12, 1927 a son of Fred Logan and Nora Williams Bell. He married Evelyn Moore on February 6, 1948 in Piggett, Arkansas. Evelyn preceded Bo in death on May 12, 2019 after seventy-one years of marriage.
Bo was a US Navy Seabees veteran serving his nation with honor in World War II and during the Korean Conflict. He was employed with Southwestern Bell for thirty-eight years prior to retirement. Bo enjoyed working in his yard, fixing things that needed fixing and helping others. He was loved by and loved his family. Bo was a member of the American Legion and the Southwestern Bell Pioneers.
Those cherishing his memory include a son, Fred Bell and wife, Linda; three daughters, Donna Ryan and husband, Kevin, Debra Stone and Dianna Offield; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; a sister, Eloise Dye; a brother, Cecil Bell and many friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Bo was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Larry Stone; an infant brother, Andy Lorenzo Bell; five sisters, Lela Vines, Vera Seagraves, Imogene Ayers and infant sisters, Opal Mae and Frances Louise Bell.
Services honoring Bo’s life will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Carr-Yager Funeral Home in Fayette with Rev. Harold Young officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at 2 PM at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville. Visitation will be from 10 AM until service time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Central Missouri Honor Flight or the American Heart Association.
