Gerald G. Lucas (Poppy) Obituary
Gerald Glen Lucas, 67, of Columbia, MO passed away June 3, 2025, peacefully at home, with his loving family by his side.
Gerald was born in Pikeville, Ky. on August 31, 1957, a son of George Lucas, who preceded him in death, and Nona Lucas. He was a graduate of Columbia College where he graduated in Graphic Art design. He utilized his gift in art in numerous ways including paintings, signage, packaging graphics, wall murals, and tattoos. He was also a gifted song lyrics writer, winning several awards in conjunction with his musical partner Bob Runyan. He never met a stranger and made long lasting friendships everywhere that he went and was known for his wit and humor. His family, and in particular, his grandchildren, were the treasures in his life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Karlene Lucas, children Alana Harper and Elias Lucas and his spouse Megan, and beloved grandchildren, Jocelyn, William and Olive.
He is also survived by his mother, Nona Lucas, brother Harold, and many beloved nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He will be laid to rest with his father and other family members in the family cemetery in Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the St. Jude Children’s hospital.
