Gary Miles Brush, age 80, of New Franklin, Missouri passed away at his home on July 31, 2025.
Gary was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on August 26, 1944, a son of the late Jerald Miles and Marion Smith Brush. He married Mary Lynn Jackson on August 22, 1970, at the New Franklin Christian Church.
Gary was employed with the Missouri Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer for 30 years and was a member of the E Squad during his employment. He had also had a passion for farming and trucking since he graduated from high school until his passing. Gary loved working, never knowing a stranger – he loved to talk to anyone about most anything. His favorite farming equipment was of course John Deere. He was a loved fixture at New Franklin’s restaurant, The Miracle Cup, where he would be visiting with the regulars and others daily during breakfast and later. Gary and Mary Lynn were members of the Branson United Methodist Church.
Gary is survived by his wife, Mary Lynn Brush; a son, David Miles Brush (Kelly); sisters, Martha Cleeton, Angie Fountain and Jane Wiley; brothers, Terry and Jack Brush; his grandchildren, Douglas, Tyler, Lena, Brooks and Benton and his great-grandchildren, Adrian, Elizabeth and William. Also surviving are his feline friends Rascal and Sissy and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Miles Brush on April 21, 2024 and by a sister, Darlene Brush and a brother, Jerry Brush.
Services celebrating Gary’s life will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin with his grandson, Tyler Brush officiating. The family will receive friends at a visitation one hour prior to the service.
