Edward Rhorer Obituary

Edward H. Rhorer, 79, of New Franklin passed away October 14, 2024, at the Harry S. Truman VA Memorial Hospital in Columbia.  Ed was born in Boonesboro, MO on December 9, 1944, a son of Walter and Nellie Sampo Rhorer.  He married his wife, Lorraine, on May 2, 2001.  

Prior to retirement, Ed was employed with J. Louis Crum Corporation as a mechanical contractor.  He attended Bible Baptist Church in New Franklin.  He loved spending time with his family, especially his much-loved grandchildren.  Ed took special pride in gardening, growing beautiful tomato plants.  He also treasured time spent fishing, hunting, building and repairing things for friends and family, boating on the river, visiting with friends, going to auctions with Lorraine and mushroom hunting.

He was a US Army veteran serving in the 4th Infantry Division during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Rhorer; daughter, Maria Rhorer; step daughter, Erin Casarez; step sons, Chris Kelley and Timothy Boyer, Jr.;  brothers, Doug, Terry and Larry Rhorer; sisters, Judy Jones, Rosemary Ivy and Linda Clark; grandchildren, Tristen Hessing, Dominick Kelley, Justice Singleton, David Singleton III, Trinity Kelley, Haven Singleton, Suzanne Coyle, Alyssa Ballenger and Caitlyn Humphrey; great-grandchildren, Brynlee Hughes, Omorose Manor, Mileena Hessing, Dayton Baslee, Cameron Coyle, Skyyler Knox, Ambrelle Knox, Preston Todd, Roman Thurman, Anna Kelley, Makenzie Kelley, Adrien Tatum and Hayden Tatum.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; son, Edward Dale Rhorer; step-daughter, Christina Kelley; brothers, Andy and James Rhorer and sister, Shirley Boyer.

Ed’s visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin.  A memorial service and military honors will follow at the funeral home at 2:00 PM with Pastor Wayne Purvis officiating.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Harry S. Truman VA Hospital Center for Development and Civic Engagement, which assists patients in their care.
