Derwood "Dick" Weston Tracy

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Derwood Weston Tracy, Jr. (Dick) 70 of Ashland, MO. Dick passed away Wednesday March 23rd, 2022 at Boone Hospital surrounded by his family.

Dick was born on May 2nd, 1951 in Pampa, TX, the son of Derwood and Bettye Tracy. Dick spent his childhood in Pampa – his love for Texas remained a constant throughout his life. When Dick was 13, his family moved to Ashland, MO for his father to find work and live closer to family. Dick was a 1969 graduate of Ashland High School where he was a member of the baseball and basketball teams. He attended Lincoln University as a psychology major.  Dick left college to start a lifelong career at Shelter Insurance. He started at Shelter as a computer programmer in 1975 and ended his career as a senior underwriter, 45 years later. He loved his career at Shelter and made many lifelong friendships.

Dick enjoyed reading, playing golf, watching sports on TV and competing with Sally nightly watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Dick was kind, funny, witty, and an easy person to love. He will be missed by many.

Dick is survived by his wife Sally Tracy of Ashland, and his children Kelly (Will) Randle of Ashland, MO; Angela (Martin) Shultz of Columbia, MO; Kalynn (Josh) Ramsey of Columbia, MO; Neal Wise of Austin, TX; Jake Glascock of Austin, TX; Jaclyn (Laura) Jones of St. Louis, MO; two brothers Richard Tracy and Mark Tracy and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

A Celebration of Life will be held April 3rd, 2022 at Eagle Knoll Golf Course, Hartsburg, MO. Family will receive friends from 2-4 pm.
