Cynthia Himelhoch Beale, age 79, died peacefully surrounded by family on November 16, 2025, in Columbia, Missouri.
Cindy was born August 9, 1946, in Toledo, Ohio. She attended Maumee Valley Country Day School before graduating from Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, with a degree in Education. Shortly after, she married her high school sweetheart, Geoff, and the two began their life together in Washington, D.C., where Geoff was stationed in the Army and Cindy taught at the National Cathedral School.
In 1983, Cindy and Geoff moved to Columbia, Missouri, where she devoted herself to raising their two children and quickly became an active and beloved member of the community. She founded an after-school program for elementary-aged children, creating a safe, joyful, and educational space that served countless families over the years.
Cindy was also deeply committed to civic engagement. She served as President of the Republican Women’s Club and volunteered for numerous political campaigns at the local, state, and national levels. In 2000, she was selected as a delegate to the Republican National Convention. Around this time, Cindy became a weekly host on KFRU’s Sunday Morning Roundtable radio show, where she helped lead thoughtful discussions on local and political issues.
Known for her warmth, sharp wit, and unwavering dedication to the people she loved, Cindy touched the lives of many through her service, friendship, and generosity.
She is survived by her children, Milli Broekelmann (Don Broekelmann) and Kit Beale (Rossana Zetina-Beale); her four grandchildren, Molly, Adam, Owen, and Henry; and her sister, Robin Ballmer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Geoffrey D. Beale.
For those wishing to honor her memory, the family requests that contributions be made in Cindy’s memory to the Salvation Army.
Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Beale family.
