Cornel Vasile Duta

Cornel V. Duta, age 57, of Columbia, Missouri passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 22, 2024.

Cornel was born and raised in Timisoara, Romania.  He graduated from Victor Babes University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Timisoara as a medical doctor and then moved to the United States in 2006, after earning a master’s degree in computers from McGill University in Canada.

Computers were his biggest passion.  Not only was he able to get a business running in this field, but most importantly, he built a great community of friends around it that meant the world to him.

Access to healthy food for all was a cause that he championed all his life.  He educated and promoted the small farms around mid-Missouri and would go to great lengths to make sure everyone understands the importance of supporting farming at a smaller scale.

Cornel was the most loyal and loving dad, husband and friend.  He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Mariana; his son, Aleksander and his mother, Cornelia.  Cornel was preceded in death by his father, Vasile Duta.

Visitation for family and close friends will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel, 1610 N. Garth Ave., Columbia, Missouri.  A funeral service honoring Cornel’s life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 7, 2024, at St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 1510 Audubon Drive, Columbia, Missouri.
