Cheryl Ruth Smith, 80, of Boonville, Missouri passed away at her home on August 8, 2025.
Cheryl was born in Los Angeles, California on February 1, 1945. She married Warren “Bud” Smith on August 24, 1963, in Lakewood, California. They started dating when she was 16 and he was her only boyfriend. She loved California and they made their home there until retirement when they moved to Boonville in 2001. Bud preceded Cheryl in death on December 23, 2017.
Cheryl was owner and operator of Gramma Sophies Antiques in Boonville for several years. She had a natural instinct for decorating and enjoyed attending auctions. She was very nostalgic and was passionate about learning the history associated with various items in her collection of primitives and antiques. She also loved animals and volunteered for many years at Columbia Second Chance. She even fed various raccoons and other wildlife on her back porch and enjoyed getting to know the wildlife that took advantage of her generosity.
She is survived by her children, Robin Rooney and husband, John and by Tim Smith and wife, Jenny; six grandchildren, Zachary, Alexandria, Sarah, Parker, Holly and McKenna; four great grandchildren, Kendal, Nova, Nora and Ryott; three nieces, Jennifer, Jill and Julie and nephew, John.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth Smith and a brother, Sonny Linyard.
At Cheryl’s request no services will be held. Her cremated remains will be buried privately at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in New Franklin.
