Obituary

Bryan Thomas “Tom” Landreth, 83, a resident of Columbia passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 24, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. 

Tom was born on May 2, 1940, in Granite City, Illinois, the son of Fred Landreth and Helen Caroline (Bixler) Landreth. 

Tom was a heavy equipment operator in the Columbia area for many years, a profession which he truly loved. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and a member of Grandview Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his best friend and dog, Louie, who never left his side. 

 He will be sadly missed and forever remembered by eight children, Linda Landreth and companion Fred, Sandra Bush and husband Kelvin, both of Columbia, Sandra Dean of Colorado, Rick Walters of Florida, Larry Walters and wife Jule of Columbia, Gary Walters and wife Kim of Alabama, Lois Dampier and husband Tom, Betty Dale and husband Lawrence, both of Columbia; 33 grandchildren, Corey, Cameron, Devin, Ronald Jr., Bryan, Anna, Scott, Justin, Kyle, Clark, Luke, Amanda, Tyler, Tanner, Jill, Brian, Paul, Cassandra, Shelby, Isaiah, Devin, Darion, Kendra, Tiera, Rashelle, Whitney, Malcolm, Amber, Mandy, Patricia, Pamela, Zack, and Justin; numerous great grandchildren; three brothers, Fred Landreth and wife Mary of Eldon, Lohman Landreth, Charles Landreth and wife Kerri, both of Brumley; three sisters, Geri Bash, Vera Woods, both of Brumley, Rebecca Henson and husband Don of Jefferson City; numerous nieces and nephews. 

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty (Burnett) Landreth; step mother, Dorothy Landreth; two sons, Thomas Plaster and Ronald “Moose” Walters; five siblings, Genevieve Beal, Joyce Duncan, Doris Robinett, David Landreth, and Michael Landreth; great granddaughter, Lilly “Bean”.

The family would like to thank grandson, Corey Landreth and his wife Gabby along with their children, Kennedy and Winston, for moving Tom into their home, and giving him loving care in his final days. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Grandview Baptist Church with Pastor Marcus Blair officiating. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service; and following the services, Tom will be laid to rest in the Grandview Baptist Church Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the family.
