Betty Heisler Obituary

Betty Jean Heisler, 96, passed away on July 5, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Chris Cook officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Betty was born March 15, 1929, in Columbia, to the late Floyd and Edith (Jones) Chipley.  She was a member of Wilkes Blvd. UMC where she belonged to the United Methodist Women Missions helping people that were down and out.  She regularly volunteered at the Wardrobe once a month.  She was an LPN at Ellis Fischel Cancer Hospital for over 30 years.  Betty was a member of State-County and Municipal Employees Union #1810 and of the Active and Retired Missouri State Employees (ARMSE) association.  She loved cooking and baking foods to share with her family and friends.

Betty is survived by her children, James Leon Schmidt, Linda K. Coleman, Michael Eugene Heisler (Melessa Wilson), Debra S. Heisler (Ken Fairchild), Rita V. Holly (David); nine grandchildren, Brandon Schmidt, Brian Coleman (Jill), Michelle Kirby, Andrew Heisler (Tricia), Jeffrey Heisler (Melissa), Tyler Heisler (Kelli), Christina Sheard (Alvin), Tyson Holly, and Jayson Holly (Megan Northrup); twenty four great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Betty was also preceded in death by two siblings, Helen Jane Lee and Doris Lucille Sharpe; son-in-law, Harold Coleman; grandson-in-law, Matthew Kirby and her companion of 28 years, L. T. Settlesworth.
