Beauford "Beau" Wilson Obituary

On June 30th, the life of Beauford Wilson came to an end near his beloved farm in Morgan County, Missouri.

Beau, as his friends called him, was born in Etowah, TN which is a small community in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. He earned a scholarship to the University of Tennessee as the President of TN FFA. While at school, he played baseball and ran track for the Vols and even competed in their arm wrestling team. Beau was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and majored in Ag Economics where he met his wife of 49 years.

After the University, he accepted a position in agricultural sales with Ciba-Geigy (aka Ciba, Novartis, Syngenta) and relocated to Hallsville, Missouri. Beau raised a family in Hallsville and served as a Deacon in the community. After more than 25 years with Syngenta, Beau accepted a position with Rosen’s which is a family based company. Here he was able to spend more time with his family and grandchildren and began to raise Highland Cows as a hobby.

Beau retired at the end of 2023. He spent his retirement picking, by hand, invasive weeds along our highways and roads to avoid the spread of their seeds. You could also find him at neighbor’s kitchen tables sharing a meal or talking to a stranger as if they had known each other for life.

Beauford Wilson was a beloved family man that knew no limitations to be there for the ones he loved. So it is with an abundance of love and pride that our family invites you to join us for a “Tall Tales” celebration of life at the Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel in Columbia, MO Tuesday, July 9th from 5-7pm.

We ask that those who wish to attend help us capture a written story of a special time or memory of Beau. These will be collected and shared with his grandchildren, family, and friends.

In lieu of flowers or donations to charity, we are requesting love and support  not just this week but in the months and years to come. If desired we will be accepting financial donations to be evenly distributed to his heirs for education purposes.

Beauford never stopped learning and never stopped loving people.
