Angela "Angie" Rice Obituary

Angela “Angie” Marie Rice, 45, of Columbia, MO passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022.

Angie was born in St. Louis, June 8, 1976, the daughter of James and Virginia (Norton) Rice, where she spent her early years. Eventually moving to Columbia, MO where she called home for most of her life. She had her three children early in life and spent many years as a full-time mother. She was fiercely proud of all of her children and loved them unconditionally through all of life’s storms. She loved to get her hands dirty and found her greatest joy in doing the things others thought she couldn’t or shouldn’t. After having worked in an auto repair shop for several years you could often find her under the hood of one of her or her kids' cars tinkering away to fix any outlying issues. She loved being outside working in a garden or occasionally stopping along the side of the road to cut flowers for her home. Later in life Angie found her true passion in art, specifically painting. This often led to her hiking all over Missouri finding waterfalls and other hidden gems to use as her inspiration.

Angie was loved in a unique way by all who knew her. Through her tough exterior she wore her heart on her sleeve which made it that much easier for others to fall in love with her. One of her greatest talents was making others feel accepted. She had a way of embracing those she loved and making sure they knew how loved they were even if that was through a series of sarcastic comments. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is at peace.

She is survived by her mother Virginia Norton, step-father Michael Macker, and step-mother Darlene Rice; her siblings Shannon Rice, David Martin, and Aimee (John) Queen; step-siblings Louis Martin, Dana (Frank) Butler, and Darla (Bill) Heusmann; her children, Ashlie (Gavin) Hart, Brittanie James, and Cody James; her beloved grandson Jude Birmingham and her many loved nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her father James Rice, step-brother Scott Phinney, and nephew David Martin Jr.

Visitation will be held at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel in Columbia, MO on Friday, April 1, 2022 from 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
