Allan Sherry Obituary

Allan Dwain Sherry, 89, of Fayette and Mexico, MO, passed away surrounded by family at his son’s home in Wright City, MO on February 10, 2022.
 
Allan was born on November 3, 1932 in Vanduser, MO, the son of John Ransom Sherry and Bessie (Daniels) Sherry. Allan served his nation in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Wanda Sue Duncan on October 11, 1994, who survives at their home.  Allan was employed with General Motors in St. Louis and Wentzville as a Benefits Coordinator until his retirement, in 1986.  After retiring, he and his wife farmed for more than 25 years on their land near Fayette.  He loved and was beloved by his family. He enjoyed fishing and, in his younger years, playing fast-pitch softball.
 
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Sue Sherry and his children Dave (Lari) Sherry of Wright City, MO, Allan (Ita) Sherry of Saint Paul, MO and Michael Sherry of Wright City, MO; step-children, Cindy (Ron) Mix of Columbia, MO, Lindon (Sharyn) Duncan of Jackson, MO, Amanda (John) Waugaman of Huntington, WV and Angela (Jim) Tinnin of Festus, MO; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren and twelve step-great grandchildren.  Also surviving are two sisters, Betty Lee Smith and Peggy Whittom and a brother, Gerald Daniel Sherry.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Ransom Sherry and Bessie Gladys (Daniels) Sherry; four sisters, Mary Lou Vanglider, Norma Jean Maddox, Wanda Lorene Withers and Laura J. Young and a brother, Ronald Wayne Sherry.
 
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 16 at Carr-Yager Funeral Home in Fayette.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, starting at 9:00 AM.  In honor of Allan’s service to his nation during the Korean War, he will be buried with full military honors following the funeral at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO at 12:00 PM.
 
Memorial contributions are suggested to Patriot Guard Riders, Central Missouri Honor Flight or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
