Alice May (Simmons) Hendrix, 82, of New Franklin, Missouri passed away August 29, 2025, at the University of Missouri Hospital.
Alice was born in Boonville, Missouri on May 4, 1943, a daughter of Harry and Clarice (Friess) Simmons. She married James William “Bill” Hendrix on May 29, 1969. He preceded her in death on June 15, 2023.
Alice was baptized at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pilot Grove, Missouri and later became a member of Boonesboro Christian Church. Her favorite activities included traveling to Las Vegas, and her favorite trip was a cruise to the Bahamas. She had a generous heart, loved people and had a fun sense of humor. Alice liked country music. Her favorite singer was Alan Jackson. She also enjoyed spicy Mexican cuisine.
Survivors include brothers, Jerry and Dennis Simmons; sisters, Delores Pearson and Joann Edwards; brother-in-law, Lloyd Hendrix; sisters-in-law, Fay Kempf, Gale Simmons and best friend and sister-in-law, Kathryn Andrews. Many nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was preceded in death by a brother, Ron Simmons and a sister-in-law, Sharon Simmons.
A memorial service honoring Alice’s life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Boonesboro Christian Church. Visitation will be from 10:30 until service begins at the church.
Inurnment will follow at the Boonesboro Cemetery.
