William Blackwell, Jr.

William Blackwell Jr, 71, born in Chester, South Carolina July 26, 1946, and died January 23, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father, William Blackwell Sr. and his mother, Sue Lee Catledge. 

After leaving a psychiatric hospital in San Diego he roamed the country as a homeless man for years; finally settling at St. Francis Catholic Worker House in Columbia, MO in the early 1990's where he regaled us with stories of his life as a Soviet spy smuggling the atomic bomb to Moscow and his decapitation and subsequent reattachment of his head on several occasions. He became a beloved fixture at St. Francis House running errands and accepting donations to the house. 

A memorial service will be held at St. Francis House February 8th at 8:00 pm.
