Vera Mae Henson, 86, of Columbia passed away on March 9, 2017.
Celebration of Life services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2017 at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel, officiated by Pastor James Dudley, Sr. of Tabernacle of Grace Ministry. The family will greet friends from 12 noon until time of the service. Following the service, a light meal will be provided.
Vera was born September 25, 1930 to Charles and Christine Myers Ligon and they preceded her in death. She was raised by her grandparents, Jake and Minnie Myers. Most recently she was married to Paul R. Henson who preceded her in death.
During her life she was involved in many activities of employment and service including retail sales, nursing and as a foster grandparent at Grant Elementary School affecting the lives of numerous children. Her church and the ministry of Teen Challenge were very important to her, but most of all, the love of her entire family and children was very strong.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne Merritt (Kevin) of Columbia; two sons, William Clyde Rawlings (Nickie) of Lebanon, MO, Gerald Duane Crowley of the Philippines; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her son, David Bartlett and a brother, Robert Lee Ligon.
