Marilyn (Turley) Lammers

Marilyn Lammers, 89, of Boonville, formerly of New Franklin, died peacefully on the evening ot October 28, 2017 at Ashley Manor in Boonville.

Marilyn Turley was born in Lamine, Cooper County, Missouri on June 28, 1928 to William Green Turley and Grace Gertrude Mellor Turley.  She was the fifth child of three boys and three girls.

She graduated from Locust Grove Elementary School (1942) in Lamine and Laura Speed Elliott High School (1946) in Boonville.

She was a highly touted employee of the National Bank of Boonville.

She married Wilbur Joseph Lammers on October 12, 1949 in St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Martinsville (Chouteau Springs), Cooper County, Missouri.  They honeymooned at Niagara Falls and lived and worked hard in Chouteau Springs, Boonville and New Franklin.  They had three sons and one daughter.  She was a mainstay when Wilbur suffered poor health.  Her loving husband Wilbur died in 2004.

Marilyn was a very proud member of her Turley family historical heritage in Cooper County.  She spoke often of her great-great grandfather Stephen Turley (1786-1851) who was a pioneer and early settler of Lamine and who participated in driving wagon trains on the Santa Fe Trail from Cooper County, Missouri to Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Her nickname “Tootsie” was given to her by her favorite uncle, Uncle Harry Turley.

Her sisters, Jessie and Bell, and her brothers, Bill and Bussie preceded her in death.  She is survived by her “baby” brother, Glenn Mellor (Noni) Turley; three sons, Bruce (Marilyn) of Northridge, California; Danny (De) of Blackwater, Missouri and Eddie of Kansas City, Missouri and one daughter, Cathie (Bruce) Blanton of Alexandria, Virginia.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Alan Wilkinson, Bryan Wilkinson, Greg Lammers, Matt Lammers, Chris Lammers, Sam Lammers, Ashley Blanton, Austin Blanton and eight great-grandchildren, Cameron Wilkinson, Haley Wilkinson, Eryn Wilkinson, Kyle Wilkinson, Trevor Wilkinson, Henry Lammers, August Lammers and Emma Lammers.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in New Franklin.
