Helen “Ruth” Forbis, 87, of Hallsville, often referred to as “a saint in this earthly life”, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 25, 2017 at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ruth was born February 24, 1930 in Woodlandville to Rice and Lucille Hawkins Claxton. She attended Hickman High School, later marrying the love of her life, Charles W. “Buddy” Forbis and celebrated 51 years of marriage before his passing in 1997. Ruth worked in the insurance field for many years, retiring from Columbia Orthopaedic Group in 1995. She was an avid reader who above all else loved God, enjoyed spending time with her family, and friends of the Red Hat Club, Locust Grove Women’s Club and Hallsville Historical Society. Ruth was a member of Hallsville United Methodist Church.
Ruth leaves, in the comfort of fond and loving memories, their children Linda Baker (Dean) of Columbia, Libby Amos (Jay) of Platte City, Denny Forbis (Pam) of Lavernia, Texas and Curt Forbis of Hallsville. She was a wonderful and dedicated wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, and friend. Ruth was an adoring grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by four siblings, Gladys Acton, Keith Claxton, Elizabeth Phillippe and Bobby Dean Claxton.
Our beloved Mother will be missed beyond measure.
