George R. Lewis, 90, of Columbia, MO, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017.

Family and friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. – 12 noon, Thursday, August 31, 2017, at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel with the time ending with a prayer service. 

George was born to George L. and Lois O. Crider Lewis on July 17, 1927 in Sedalia, MO. He served in the U. S. Army during the Occupation of Germany as a projectionist.  On September 3, 1954, he married Myrtle A. Young in Sedalia and she preceded him in death.  On his discharge from the Army he pursued a career as a projectionist, being employed by many of the theaters in Columbia.  He retired from the University of Missouri having worked at KOMU-TV as an engineer.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, boating and wintering in Texas.

George is survived by his two daughters, Linda Ismay (Danny) of St. Peters and Rosemary Lewis of Columbia; his daughter-in-law, Nadine Lewis of Columbia, a sister, Lois Schnakenberg of Sedalia; three grandchildren, Andy (Heidi), Jeremy (Dani) and Grace (Tyler); three great grandchildren, Jacob, Braden and Olivia; a special nephew, Lewis (Donna) Jones and George’s best friend and caregiver, Steve.

He was preceded in death by a son, David Lewis and longtime friend, David Lehr.
