Eva Yager Obituary

Eva Lee Yager

1922 – 2018

Eva Lee Yager, age 96, of Centralia, Missouri passed away September 13, 2018 at Monroe Manor in Paris, Missouri.

Eva Lee was born on January 16, 1922 in Rowena, Missouri a daughter of Arthur Preston Yager, Sr. and Ethel Lee Campbell Yager.  She was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Missouri and as a nurse at Dr. Ward’s and Dr. Bradley’s practices in Centralia for many years.  She enjoyed making crocheted Christmas decorations to give to patients at the doctor’s office, especially children.  She assisted her family by caring for her parents for many years at their home while also working as a nurse.

Eva Lee was a life-long member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church in Rowena where she was a member of the United Methodist Women.  She especially enjoyed getting ready for Maple Grove’s Lord's Acre sale each fall by helping quilt, serving the meal and supporting the auction.  The homemade peanut brittle she made for the auction for decades always brought a premium price. Although Eva Lee, Pearl and James, and Leona had no children of their own, their home was where multiple generations of the Yager family, church family and neighbor kids always had adopted parents and grandparents to care for them.  She was also a member of the Goodwater Extension Club and enjoyed working outdoors in the yard and garden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Preston and Ethel Campbell Yager; four brothers, Stanley (Marie) Yager, Edwin (Anna Mae) Yager, Elmer  (Nina Mae) Yager and A.P. (Edna) Yager and by two sisters, Wilda (Russell) Beamer and Pearle (James) Armstrong; a special family friend. Leona Foreman and by three nephews, Arthur Lee Yager, Earl Beamer and Carl Beamer.

Survivors include a niece and nephews, Jack Beamer, S. Vernon Yager, Roy Preston Yager, J. R. Yager, Edna Nichols, Bill Yager, Donald Yager, Kenneth Yager and Carl Wayne Yager their respective families and Arthur Lee Yager and Earl Beamer’s families.

Services honoring Eva Lee’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Maple Grove United Methodist Church in Rowena with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow the service at East Lawn Memorial Park in Mexico, Missouri.
