Edward Lynn Innes, Sr.
1942 – 2019
Edward Lynn Innes, Sr., well known Fayette resident, passed away at his home August 17, 2019 at his home surrounded and cared for by loved ones. He was 77 years old.
He was born May 21, 1942 in Fayette a son of the late Charles and Ruth Lay Innes. Eddie married his wife Joan Nelson on February 25, 1966. Mr. Innes was a lifelong cattle farmer and was employed by the City of Fayette as a lineman for over 45 years and had been employed with the REA as a lineman prior to working for the city. He served in the U.S. Navy receiving a medical discharge.
His favorite pastimes included hunting; fishing watching western movies and nature shows, enjoying coffee and ice cream and motorcycle riding. He was a member of the Mid America Black Sheep Harley Davidson for Christ and had travelled in all 50 states with his motorcycle. Especially important to him was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Joan Innes; daughter, Kelly Lynn Clayton (Gleandell Clayton, Jr.); son, Edward Lynn Innes, Jr. (Carrie Daniels); brother, Charles “Chuck” Innes; two sisters, Ruth Ann Owen and Mary Sanders; six grandchildren, Nathan Clayton (Chellee Beasley), Kayla Strodtman (Joe Strodtman), Dakota Innes ( Marci Innes), Blake Innes, Melissa Innes and Gracie Innes and five great-grandchildren, Ruby and Violet Clayton, Harper and Oliver Strodtman and Adelynn Innes.
Services honoring his life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Carr-Yager Funeral Home in Fayette with Rev. Harold Young officiating. Burial will follow at Sharon Cemetery near Armstrong. Visitation will be Friday evening at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Mid-America Black Sheep Harley Davidson for Christ and may be made payable to Mid-America BSHDC.
