Albert “Don” Palmer, 86, of Columbia passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at home with family.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel preceded by a visitation from 1:00 PM until time for the services. Entombment will follow the service at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Don was born October 14, 1932, to Albert Elmore and Florence Blackburn Andrews Palmer in Boone County and they preceded him in death. On August 26, 1952, he married Dorothy Lee and later married Johnie “Jo” Millwood Copeland on December 26, 1975. He enjoyed gathering with friends to drink coffee and play 4-Point Pitch. He also raised pygmy goats and collected farm tractors.
Don is survived by his first wife, Dorothy Lee Roberts, his recent companion, caregiver and mother to their children, Debra Winn of Columbia, Donna Ewens (Steven) of Fulton, DeeAnn Palmer-Twenter (Craig) of Centralia, Scott Palmer of Harrisburg. He is also survived by three step-sons, Chuck, Terry and Jay Copeland; a sister, Dee Palmer Brenneman of Eldon; fifteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great- granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his second wife, Johnie “Jo” Millwood Copeland; son, Steven Palmer; half- brother, John Beachboard; son-in-law, David Winn; daughter-in-law, Dana Palmer; a grandson and a great-granddaughter.
