His love of all sports, especially Hallsville athletics, was evident in the many hours in which he played, coached, refereed, umpired, volunteered, mentored, gave lessons and helped countless youth in the Hallsville community.  He was a big fan of the Missouri Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals and the Howard College Hawks.

He was an active member of the Hallsville Masonic Lodge, The Scottish Rite, The Tiger Shrine Club,  and the Moolah Shriners.

He enjoyed his bi-weekly card game with THE BOYS! (Some of you still owe him some $).

Alan is survived by his wife Pat of 45 years and his son Benjamin (Kellie) Austene of Hallsville, his daughter Kelly (Scott) Raines of Big Spring, TX.  He is also survived by his two sisters Sue (Patrick) Wright of Columbia and Patricia (Douglas) Doak of Columbia.  He is survived by three grandchildren AJ and Marissa Austene and Austen Raines.
