Robert Clifford “Bob” Gerding, age 63, of Boonville, passed away at his home on April 15, 2017.
Bob was born in Boonville on October 27, 1953, a son of the late Fredrick and Larvetta Jones Gerding. He married Nelda Pfeiffer at Bible Baptist Church in New Franklin on April 18, 1975.
Mr. Gerding was formerly employed with Toastmaster in computer technology for over thirty years. He was later employed with Caterpillar in Boonville and at the Boonville Correctional Center.
Bob earned a bachelor’s degree in religious education from Covington Theological Seminary. He loved reading, learning and teaching and had taken several computer courses and received certifications. He taught computer classes and Booneslick Technical Educational Center and published a book Watch What You Say When You Talk to Yourself.
Mr. Gerding was a member of Bible Baptist Church in New Franklin where he had taught Sunday School, helped with children’s church and enjoyed Bible study. Especially important to Bob was his love of family. He liked joking with his kids and grandkids. His favorite food was pumpkin pie.
Survivors include his wife, Nelda of the family home; a son, Brian Gerding; a daughter, Bethany Kensinger and husband, Paul; two grandchildren, Eva and Brady Kensinger; three brothers, Bill, Walter and James Gerding; a sister, Nancy Gerding and his mother-in-law, Mary Pfeiffer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Bible Baptist Church in New Franklin with Pastor Tim Miller officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in New Franklin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Bible Baptist Church.
