Patrick Eugene “Pat” McGuire

1946 – 2017

Patrick Eugene “Pat” McGuire, 71, of Fayette, passed away at his home on December 5, 2017.

Pat was born on July 23, 1946, a son of Miles Edward and Bessie Ross McGuire.

Mr. McGuire had worked as a union employee as a pipeliner, welder and heavy equipment operator.  His places of employment had included NEMO Coal Mine and the Huntsville Quarry.  He was also a carpenter remodeling many homes in the area.  He loved his farm raising cattle, putting up hay, raising many breeds of dogs over the years and caring for poultry and many other domestic and wild animals.   He also enjoyed horseback riding, his mules and milking his Jersey cow.  His passion was hunting, fishing, being outdoors and spending time with his family.

Survivors include two sons, Jason McGuire of Slater and Nathan McGuire of Higbee; a daughter, Gina McGuire of Columbia; two brothers, Ken and John McGuire; three sisters, Barbie Smith, Donna Beale and Judy Ray.  Also cherishing his memory are nine grandchildren, Julissa Turley, Rhiannon Franklin, Amanda Arms and Addison, Rebecca, Dustin, Grace, Miles and Ruth McGuire and six great-grandchildren, Avalea and Tatum Turley, Colton and Laura Arms, and Nate and Noah Franklin; several nieces and nephews including Mack Ray, Richard Wiley, Chera McGuire, Debbie Abel, Dottie Gerlt, Charlene Lusher, Jan Craig, Rhonda Finn, Kimberly Venson, Nancy Struttman, JoAnn McGuire, Jannie Newlin and several great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Emma Lou McCall.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Carr-Yager Funeral Home in Fayette.  Visitation will begin at noon prior to the service.

Burial will be at Log Chapel Cemetery near his home in rural Howard County.
