Elmer Eugene “Dusty” Hinds, of Fayette, formerly of Wilimngton, Illinois and Osage Beach, Missouri, passed away July 30, 2017 at Cooper County Memorial Hospital.  He was 94 years old.

Mr. Hinds was born November 18, 1922 in Marion, Ohio a son of Virgil and Vesta Williamson Hinds.  He married Phyllis Thompson and she survives. Prior to retirement, he was the Assistant Post Master at Wilmington, Illinois.  Dusty was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.

He had served as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Wilmington, Illinois.  Dusty and his wife, Phyllis had served in the mission field as dorm parents in Israel and in London, Kentucky at Cleft Rock Retreat.  He was an avid sports fan and a life-long Baptist.

In addition to his wife, Phyllis, he is lovingly remembered by a son, Kurt Hinds and wife, Tamara of Fayette; a daughter, Shelly Phillips and husband, Charles of Osage Beach; five grandchildren, D.J. Hinds and wife, Aura, Zach Phillips, Jake Phillips and wife, Bree, Stephanie Hinds, Meg Behle and fiancé, Joe and three great-grandchlldren, Braxton Phillips and Emma and Andrew Behle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brian Hinds and a brother, Warren Hinds.

Services honoring his life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Horseshoe Bend Baptist Church, 394 Duckhead Road, Lake Ozark, Missouri 65049.
